Driftwood, Texas is a charming area located in the Texas Hill Country which happens to be just 20-30 minutes away from my home in South Austin. This area is known for its beautiful rolling hills, winding creeks, and, of course, its wineries. Here is a guide to some of my favorite wineries in Driftwood, Texas:
Duchman Family Winery: The Duchman Family Winery is located on a beautiful property that is surrounded by rolling hills. They have even been previously listed on HGTV's top 20 most picturesque wineries in America. The winery offers tastings, tours, a beautiful event space, and community events such as live music and movies on the lawn! Right on property there is a great Italian restaurant, Trattoria Lisina.
Driftwood Estate Winery: The Driftwood Estate Winery is located on a stunning hilltop with sweeping views of the Texas Hill Country. The winery offers tastings and a beautiful outdoor patio area. The staff at Driftwood Estate are some of the most down to earth Texans you'll meet. With a more casual environment, you'll feel right at home listening to their stories and learning about the wine!
Salt Lick Cellars: Salt Lick Cellars is located on the same property as the famous Salt Lick BBQ restaurant. This winery offers a unique experience, as guests can enjoy a glass of BBQ Red or White while also indulging in some of the best BBQ in Texas. I personally love starting your tour here, especially if you are coming from Austin. Wine and BBQ - pure Texas joy.
Fall Creek Vineyards: Fall Creek Vineyards is located right across from Salt Lick and includes a tasting room, vineyards, and a production facility. Fall Creek was the first vineyard to plant Tempranillo in the state of Texas in 1988. I am actually a wine club member at Fall Creek Vineyards as I love visiting throughout the entire year!
Wimberley Valley Winery: Wimberley Valley Winery is located on a beautiful property with stunning oak groves that includes a tasting room, outdoor patio, and vineyards. Need a break from wine? Wimberley also has a brewery, Lone Man Mountain Brewing Co for hand-crafted brews.
